True- I've not seen more than 2 vehicles consecutively go through here. However, today a big HGV carrying a digger went through on red at speed. Awaiting upRide. Vehicle is G16 DHT, owned by David Hartley, Transport and Training of Lancaster, who operates a 'driving school'  which apparently teaches people how to tow trailers (through red lights)

Anyone know the movie reference?

No idea about the movie reference but KnowYourMeme.com says that the meme was based on a tweet by ABC News showing an aerial video of LA Thanksgiving traffic in 2017 (here).

That's why the Cambridge Guided Busway uses car traps instead. They don't need to be repaired after the car drives into it but it serves the same purpose.

So, someone drives to a shop many miles from home, parks correctly, causes no one any harm but comes out to find a rude word written on her car for no reason.... have I got that right?

If so, I'm calling it bull dropping. Unless of course it was mistaken identity.... which I doubt.

I'm glad our police are so active at removing this menace from our roads - imagine the carnage if there were 20 million of them in circulation.

Oh - wait - it's on wheels (sort of). As you were!

I'm with this guy:

'However Cllr Kevin Reynolds from Cambridgeshire County Council has little sympathy for the drivers who get stuck.

He said: “If people driving along that road cannot see a big hole in the ground in front of them then I would argue they wouldn’t be able to see a small child.

“I would question whether they should be behind the wheel at all...” '

A bit far too from home to be targeted; I noted the absence of a "look at my perefectly well parked car" picture.

She braked and swerved the push chair so the Magistrates will have to find another excuse to let the driver off.

Woman spends an hour trying to find a space in Bath's car parks amid Christmas Market woes

She has vowed📢 never to drive into Bath again 📢 when the Christmas Market is running

"We normally take the train to Bath, but it was a particularly wet day and we were only planning to see the Christmas market, so we opted for the 30-minute drive over the hour door-to-door trip on the train."

Quote:

A man who was told by doctors to stop driving nine years ago because of his poor eyesight knocked down and killed a pensioner.

Preston Crown Court heard yesterday [the man] was only able to read a car number plate at a distance of 2.5 metres – the legal requirement is 20 metres.

But he ignored doctors and continued to drive.

The court was also told [the man] was driving at 48mph in a 30mph zone at the time of the crash.

He admitted causing death by dangerous driving yesterday and was jailed for 32 months.

Remind me - why can't the GP or optometrist report someone to the DVLA?

About as tenuous a connection as it gets (no planning permission because no public transport) but it's that time of year where kids go to the not-at-all-creepy grotto, to meet a Roald Dahl style Santa and wife, probably never to return.

Police investigating the death of a donkey foal following a hit-and-run on the B3078 Roger Penny Way near the junction with Longcross Plain Road seek witnesses

Launching an appeal for witnesses, police have revealed the offending vehicle left the scene...leaving a broken mirror and headlight glass on the carriageway. Due to the vehicle involved having a glass headlight rather than plastic lens, it is suspected that the vehicle involved is an older model.

https://www.advertiserandtimes.co.uk/news/older-vehicle-sought-in-donkey...

I know it's dark and all, but you're bound to notice a neighbour's car has a boshed in headlight and a wing mirror missing.

On it goes in Clevedon. So you've had your independent road safety audit, but that's not good enough either? Have you even got £375k. Remember this is just so a handful of local boomers can park up facing out to sea with their Daily Mail.

"It's great to drive, there's always a clear road ahead but behind a sea of traffic."  "But folk don't tend to mind," he adds.

That's what it's like for anyone driving within the speed limit (apart from the folks not tending to mind).  I wonder how he can tell...

ULEZ camera blown up with IED just hours after it was installed

https://metro.co.uk/2023/12/07/police-launch-investigation-ulez-camera-b...

Quote:

The backlash against the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) cameras continued this week when a camera was blown up.

The device in Sidcup, south-east London, appears to have been destroyed by an improvised explosive device at around 6.45pm on Wednesday.

People leaving nearby said their homes and cars were damaged by the explosion from what has been described as a ‘low-sophistication’ device.

The explosion is not being treated as terrorism, but, because of the nature of the crime, explosives experts from the counter-terror demand are leading the investigation.

This seems to raise more questions than it answers, like what's the sequence from getting a ticket to court (collection of a debt) and to whatever tribunal (which hasn't pronounced yet.

Also, IME Council officers are regulations anoraks and if there is a 20 cm rule, as there is in this house let me tell you, they're usually well across it.

Anyway here's plucky Chris and his tiny road sign:

sorry this has got nothing to do with cycling and just a passing reference to cars : "honk if you're a as full of hatred as we are!".

How do you get to the stage where you're  prepared (superficially at least - you can bail out any time) to live like asylum seekers often live in order to oppose them.

A new twist on the parkco fines here and driver victimhood evolves to meet the challenge:

“For them to restrict my freedom of movement to a car park even though I’m a paying customer is disgusting really. If I’d known I couldn’t even cross the road I wouldn't have done it. I certainly don’t want to be paying a £100 fine when I’ve spent money there."
