Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/18649201.car-crash-wall-iceland-s...

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

They got it through without damage which looks like a good bit of driving though. Maybe not the best choice of route, however.

(absurd non-story)

The trick is to tilt it onto two corners and then "walk" it along.

But yes, that sounds ridiculous.

Saw this in the Graun earlier. 8 pedestrians had to be taken to hospital (3 of them to major trauma centres) after a man in his 20s drove a Range Rover into a bus stop in Aldwych at about 3.30 am.

Met Police: "At this stage, the incident is not being treated as terror-related."

Hmmm. The poor victims might feel differently. SUVs and other vehicles 'terrorise' the streets of towns and cities across the country every day.

Also today a passenger died and two others were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries when a Mercedes overturned on the M4 and caught fire. [article] And a driver died in a single-vehicle crash on the A55 early on Saturday morning.

a premium police response

Yes, they're a whirlwind of activity when such anti-socials are concerned- but strangely forgiving where it's hard-working motorists. This is the failed MOT of PJ07 NFP, which has regularly been seen, filmed and reported driving around Garstang without insurance, MOT or VED for over 3 years. Entertainingly, the vehicle has now disappeared from the DVLA website- my last encounter in August showed that there's been no VED since 31.1.20. People are sick of seeing shots of WU59 UMH, the local champion of freedom, at over 6 years fighting the War on Motorists by failing an MOT on 23.9.23 for dangerous defects but continuing to drive- with the support of Lancashire Constabulary

That is a highways maintenance vehicle!

There's a crash cushion at the back.

Huge emergency service response after Audi ploughs into Ashford flats

Is this a VIP's flat?  What's the story here?  Car goes into flat so empty I though it was a garage, but there are a ton of police / emergency vehicles there and "the police stayed to tidy up" apparently?

people?

It's about time they just pulled down that 'woke' bridge that's getting in the way of hard-working, put-upon drivers. I bet it wears lycra in its spare time and joins Greta Thunberg's protests.

They can be difficult to see, so why don't they put a light on it or something?

The poor driver and such a naughty car!

Presumably he has got himself another fridge, this will have to be installed somehow, if new, you pay for them to take away the old one, or a second hand one, when someone brings it in you ask them to put the old one outside for the council. Unless he expects the council to install his new fridge too...

Whenever there's a mass shooting in the land of the free, the first thing that tends to be claimed is that it is not terror related. It is wrong. The only point of a mass shooting is to instil terror.

I wish I was a bridge, able to damage the cars of terrible drivers then be fully repaired afterwards. Or maybe more like this guy.

"The lorry became stuck in Fowey around 12:40pm and has baffled onlookers ever since."

Who would be baffled? The lorry is too wide, and it's stuck. It's obvious that it didn't teleport there or fall from the sky.

If it was on the roof of a building, or upside-down, that might be baffling.

£39 for a council bulky item collection, which is rather less than is usually charged to recycle an old appliance if as you say, you're having a new one.

You're clearly not a lawyer!  Luckily we have more logical types in the UK.  That's why there are vanishingly few prosecutions for driving on the pavement (actually it's also because the police are officially "not bothered").  The fact that your vehicle is there proves nothing.  A crane could have lifted it there, or a gust of wind...

I remember with great fondness my rides around brums myriad canals, quite a few link up below spaghetti junction. Giant concrete pillars are the only thing to remind you of the hurriedness and congestion above, whilst below was calmness and green.

Foot and mouth put a stop to my excursions, riding as far as I could, and either riding back or catching the train.

Awesome! Will maybe give it a try on something tricky - like somewhere in the Royle Borro of Ken and Chelsey - to see if it breaks down and gives up.

Oh, I did that one and forgot to post it. Also, I didn't want the normal, hard-working, taxpayers to confuse it with an actual plan and think that the cycling lobby had won
